020 Walter Harris – Manifesting Our Dreams and Experiencing Music in 4-D

by tannerguss on February 18, 2020

Preservation Hall drummer and spiritual being Walter Harris joins me to discuss creative visualization, love, compassion, community, and the other beautiful, mystical aspects of the universe. He also explains the cultural and spiritual significance of Mardi Gras, emotionally charged practice, and his experience manifesting his dreams out of prison. At its best this interview offers a practical method to realize your deepest desires. At its worst it’s a pleasant alternative to painful rumination.

“It’s only for those that can hold their dreams at a high vibration that get to reach them.”

Actionable Advice

  • You want to relate beautiful and great thoughts to whatever you’re playing. You want that lick or idea to bring you to a place of happiness. So when you’re working on it you want to work on it with the thought in mind of this happy place or the happiness you want to transmute to the audience. It’s up to you to create that place in your mind while you’re working on it.
  • At that point I started reengineering my life. I went back to find out “What happened? What was I putting my attention on that brought me to that point?” I had to go back on charge the program: the thoughts I was keeping, the focus, the vocabulary, the posture, the walk, facial expression – all of this plays a part in this. It’s a whole change.
  • Discipline is very big in this journey of life that we’re partaking in. Being disciplined about whatever it is you take on. There’s a lot of distraction out here! Being able to stay disciplined is not always the easiest thing. It’s only once you see the results of these disciplines that makes it more attractive and joyful to partake in.
  • The whole genre thing faded for me because the big picture is coming together with this group of people to make THOSE people feel good. It’s like church: it’s a service.
  • Talk towards having a good time.
  • Every day I expect to have a good day ON PURPOSE.
  • Most people are like babies, they just don’t know. A baby makes a mistake all you can do is just love them anyway. You teach them! Well you got a lot of grown babies man. And you have to love them and have compassion for them. You can’t teach grown people you just love to them and pray for them.
